Have now put the spare tire on with the handy dandy little jack and tire wrench and made an appointment for 9am to get it fixed. The ultimate irony is that the dealership here is right at the intersection where I got the staple in the tire initially!!!

I am an honorary Canadian? :D Sweet! Now I can make a maple-leaf dress, after all! But I can't wear it to class or the rustling would make people hate me. And I'd have to stay away from goats and other plant-eaters.

So, when and how did this evil four-prongued Orc claw attack your car tire?
At about 6:45 am this morning, not 5 minutes from work. There is construction allllll the way up the street leading to where I turn off into the more residential side streets to get in the back entrance. Usually saves me between 15 and 30 minutes to come in that way. Anyway, drove allll up that road, and made my turn, and as soon as I made the turn, I could hear and feel it. Ka-thunk, ka-thunk, ka-thunk, with every tire rotation. And I knew what that meant. I have had construction site related flat tires THREE TIMES before. In fact, I believe that construction site related flat tires are the ONLY flat tires I've ever had. Anyway. When we pulled into the parking lot and got out of the car, we could actually hear the air hisssing out of the tire, and there was that giant staple jammed into the tire. I pulled it out, hoping that might allow the tire to seal abit and slow the leak, but no such luck. It was completely flat within minutes.

Would you make it with fresh leaves? Or dried leaves? You couldn't really sit down with dry leaves, or you'd soon be, well, revealing a lot more *you* ;o) But fresh leaves would soon become dry leaves, and you'd have to keep remaking the dress over and over and over - UNLESS! Unless you were to use fake leaves! Then you could make it out of fall colours to suit any occassion if you so desired! AND you could make matching undergarments, a la Adam and Eve :oDDDD But beware the tent caterpillars! And other insects that might gravitate toward you, although, it used to be fashionable to wear bugs as jewelry, even live ones, that were chained to a pin... you could be reviving the entire fashion industry!

Are the construction people going to pay of the repair?
But beware the tent caterpillars! And other insects that might gravitate toward you,
Bwah, I can just imagine. "GET AWAY FROM ME! It TICKLES!" *G*

... people wore... bugs? When?? Where?? Why???

If I'd had to replace the tire I may have considered going after them for the money, but honestly, $35 is not worth the headache and time it would take to get it.
Bwah, I can just imagine. "GET AWAY FROM ME! It TICKLES!" *G*
heheheh try *they* tickle, the hundreds of them that will promptly eat away your leaves *GRIN*

Oh, when was it... 19th century... there are records of it early on in India and Brazil, but by the late 1800's it was popular in Europe - not the live bugs so much as jewelry made from bugs - broaches, pins, earrings, buttons, etc. I can't quite remember who wore the live ones, and it might have been a more isolated than widespread kind of thing. But beetles were especially prized for their bright metallic colours.
This article talks about all sorts of animals worn as decoration, including insects. :o) Fascinating :o)

But your icon is too soothing with pretty soothing colours, draining some of my desire to kill... somewhere in the back of my consciousness my brain is saying this is a good thing, but the rest of me isn't quite there yet.

It's very impressive, really! Especially since in spite of the very office-y background you make it seem all ominous and thunder-lightning-y!

My icon forgives you. That's because it's all progressive and modern! ;)
It's a painting my Emil Nolde, who I recently discovered and like a lot! Lots of religiously themed art in this beautiful expressionist style. :)

To be honest, I'm quite impressed with it myself *GRIN*

Hmmm I shall have to look him up, because it is really quite lovely. You art geek, you ;o) From your icon, it looks wonderfully soft and blended, which I have discovered I like a lot when painting. Very nice indeed. :o)

I'm only just starting out. ;) Soon I'll be a walking encyclopedia making you all sick to death of all the art I'll be babbling about! Or something.

Tell me about this icon! Is it a sandstone carving? or a beach sclupture? :oD and what exactly is it depciting? Is it a child on a mother's knee? Or some metaphorical depcition of a goddess? and what are those dimply things above the 'child's' head? and what is the child pointing at????

Tell me about this icon!
I think it's a limestone carving. A detail Icut from a picture of the original. It's adepiction of pharao Akhenaten with his wife Nefertiti and three daughters. The details shows one of the daughters on Nefertiti's knee, pointing at her father. You can see the body of her little sister at Nefertiti's shoulder, hehe. It's a really sweet picture, just crawling with family-ness.
The dimply things are hieroglyphs.

Oh, Rouka *shakes head*
As *cough cough* posted earlier in my LJ *cough cough grin*
Hubby and I are starting a screen printing business, professionally screening custom t-shirts, aiming at the market who just wants that one special shirt, but doesn't want to pay the $100 in set up fees just to get their shirt made. So, custom shirts, $20 bucks for one offs, plus, we'll do larger orders too of course, and we'll have some stock designs of our own to sell as well.
Things are progressing. We're doing very well with the spending part of setting up the business *G* But I have secured a good, competatively priced supplier of t-shirts, and a source for supplies with free next day delivery in the city, which is excellent, and a few other contacts. I have the equipment. The basment-cum-shop is progressing. I have built tables, rearranged tools, assembled shelfs, built racks, insulated and added a floor to a cold cellar-cum-screen drying room, and am in the process of building another rack for my screens in there, and then once we get the sawdust and tools put away, I'll actually be able to start running off some demo shirts.
I'm working on the web site design, have my web hosting guy who's a friend looking into some shopping cart software for me, the hubby has finished his research and is about to begin the arduous task of writing our business plan...
So, yes, overall I'd say it's going well. We've spent a bit getting set up, but I think we've got a good target market, and if we can reach them, we should make our projections next year and recover our initial investment. It's all very exciting. We have very high hopes, culminating in a desire to some day be able to run the shop full time and quit our other jobs and be our own bosses (and maybe even boss other people around!!!)
The business is called Geek2Chic Custom Tees but there's nothing up yet, just a holder page. In the meantime, we're likely going to start selling a few through e-bay with luck, and see how we do from there.
All very exciting. :o)

Limestone? Really? Huh. It's very... sandstone-looking limestone...
I've always liked Egytian art, with it's rigid rules and size diffentiating importance, and hieroglyphs, of course. I had a chance to go see Tutankhamen at the museum here in Toronto, oh, about 25 years ago, but my parents were too tired that day *grrr arg* I've never quite gotten over that. >:o(

Sorry about the evil start to your day, dear. But look at it this way, it can only get better. Here, I'll give icon help too.

Well, the appointment to get it patched has been made (I'm still holding out hope that it can get patched) for 9am and the spare tire is on (First time I've put a spare on) so, things are not as bleak, and GOD IN HEAVEN I hope things only get better, because if it gets worse--- I'm not even goint to contemplate that.
Mmmmm kissy icon :oD again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again...
*hugs*
