Ow??

I had some blood work done today, which meant fasting for 12 hours before hand, which really meant no food since 10pm last night until 4pm today, which is more like 18 hours... surprisingly it wasn't really that difficult. Had I not been doing Atkins, and thus had my decreased appetite (which is a good, healthy thing, no worries) then I probably would have died. As it was, not so tough.

But *damn* the needle hurt this time!!! I've had needles before, and I've had blood taken before, but it's never stung quite like it did today. The nurse almost couldn't find my vein (thank God she did and only needed to stick me once!) but she got it first try and the little pinch was quite a bit more significant than I remember last time, and by the time she'd filled the third vial, it was down right painful, all stuck in my arm there.

And now, it's still quite sore. And, gosh, don't I sound like a wuss?!

I still think it's facinatingly cool to watch your blood spurt into those vials, so fast and dark red... and I just watch it fill each little glass vial, one after the other... I don't know why I find it so neat, but I do *G*

Anyway, then I had to pee on my hand in a cup for a urine sample and drop that off. All kinds of fun. But it's been a good long time since I've had any workups done, so it'll be good to see what's going on in the ol' bod :o)

I've never really had a big problem with needles... I don't so much watch them puncture my skin, but yeah, while the blood's coming out, it's very, as you say, sickly fascinating to watch. It comes so FAST into that little vacuum.

I've kinda freaked out nurses like that too :oD

I can't watch the blood being taken... the last time I had blood tests done I know by the time it got to the third vial of blood I kept saying "take out the needle now, take it out take it out take it out..." I'm clearly not good with needles, although I've improved from having to be pinned down for my booster shots when I was a kid ;)

It's never really bothered, me, you know, aside from the giant bruise I now have on my inner arm... oh, and did I mention the PAIN! It's *still* sore. *shakes head* Stoopid thing.

You are so brave! Before they take my blood they point to a bare spot on the floor in case I fall out of the chair.

Heee... It doesn't bother me. Weird I guess. But if I were to stick *myself* on the otherhand, I'd pass out. Did you ever have to do those blood type tests in science class, and you had to puncture your finger or thumb with a lancet? I did, and my vision started clouding, and my ears were ringing, and I nearly passed right out. And that wasn't the only time, other times when I've cut myself I've had the same reaction.
