*Yawn*
*Stretches langourously*
I'm at home today, flist. No, not sick. Tired. :o) We both slept through our alarm today, and when we did wake up and my husband rushed downstairs, he stepped on the bottoms of his too-long sleep panst and ended up sliding down the stairs in a rather bumpy and painful manner!
So, it was an email to work to take today as a vacation day so I could take him to get looked at. He's fine, so far.
Thus, I'm home, which means I have time to actually post!
Spending MONEY!!!
I had over $100 to spend on myself for my birthday, and on saturday we went out to do just that. FUN! What did I get? So much!!!
* A new mouse for my laptop, as the old one has died.
* Beck's newest CD 'The Information' which has the coolest cover, in that it is just white, with a light blue grid over it, and comes with several stickers that you can apply to make your own cover design! I haven't listened to it a lot yet, but it seems pretty standard Beck fare, which is both good and bad. Good in that I like almost everything he's done, but bad in that it's not really *new* feeling.
* 32oz of black fabric paint for silk screening, since I pretty much ran out after my t-shirt making shindig last year, and I plan to host another.
* The entire Alien Nation series. Used to love that show.
* Ordered the soundtrack to Deadwood from Amazon. I love the music, especailly the opening theme which I find so firefly crossed with battlestar galactica... cool.
* Also ordered two books from Amazon, one on Chinese watercolours, and the other on Sumi-e, the Japanese art of ink drawing. I hope they arrive soon, but it said the sumi-e book could take 4 to 6 weeks! :o/
* And lastly, I picked up a wireless keyboard and mouse, by Creative Labs, (the soundblaster people for those in the computer world) It has some idiosyncracies I don't like, such as the tiniest shift key ever to make room for an extra '\' key on the left side, so, if you see lots of extraneous '\'s about, that's why, though I'm getting better.
Coolest of all, guess what the hubby ordered for me for my birthday? A prop replica of Mal's pistol from Firefly!!!!! Squeeee!!! No, it's not the brass plated really expensive one from the movie that's just been released, but a resin cast of the prop from the series, which I like the look of better anyway (the magazine is different in the movie, less western-y) So, once it arrives, I get to put it together (just the handle grips are not attached) and paint it all up! I'm excited!!!
And, after all of that, I've STILL got Christmas gift certificates left to spend. Oy!
But that's not where the money spending ends. Oh no!
While at the computer store, my husband found a new Battle for Middle Earth game, and an expansion for it, and as he LOVES the first one, he snatched them up and bought them both. Unfortunately, when he got home, we discovered that his video card didn't have enough memory to play the new game. So, naturally we had to go out and buy a new video card for him, so now he has a GeForce 7600 256mb 8x AGP video card, which I am very jealous of, even though I don't play many games on my own machine *G* So I spent sunday morning installing that, which actually went pretty smoothly.
Also, we bought a new vacuum! A Bissell! Not one of the steam cleaning variety, but one that is bagless and has washable filters, so no extra bags to buy, which is great. Plus, no shocks from the old vacuum anymore either *G* which is even better, and less hazardous *nods*
Then, we bought a humidifier, because our house is sooo very dry. Our computers were getting electrical surges and tripping the powerbars because it's so dry and there's so much static electricity in the air. I even got a shock from my phone! So, now there is moisture being steamed into the air. It's still dry, but no shocks anymore. So, improvement.
Lastly (though not purchased in the order described) we bought $300 of the pine wood wainscotting for the bedroom, so that we can begin the hubby's Cabin project. Yes, we are renovating again *G* and this time we'll turn our master bedroom into a lovely cabin. It will be gorgeous when it's done, I think!
SO, we spent entirely TOO much money this weekend, but by gods it was fun *G*
