Hallowe'en is over....

Well, that was about the suckiest turnout for Halloween we've had at the house.
:o(

Usually we get around 150 kids or so, and this year we decided to be extra generous, so we bought 300 treats and handed out two at a time. We have TONS of candy and chocolate left over. We probably only had about 60 kids or so. It was over by 8 o'clock.

Hallowe'en has always been one of my most favouritest days (and yes, I wrote that that way on purpose) but it's dying.

Christmas is killing Hallowe'en. Or, more specifically, departement stores putting out their Christmas crap BEFORE Hallowe'en are killing it. I hate that. HATE HATE HATE that.

Don't get me wrong, I love Christmas. I love decorations and giving and getting gifts, and decorating the tree and all that. But I want HALLOWE'EN!

When I was little, the streets were CRAWLING with kids - and this is not just me looking back through rose coloured glasses here - you literally could not look up and down a street without seeing a dozen different gangs of kids going door to door.

Our street was deserted.

Despite having all this candy left over to snack on, I am very sad.

It's really hard to look back upon a more innocent and idyllic time and not miss it. *hugs* I feel/felt the same way, so I feel ya knocking.

and yes: WTF? with the Christmas stuff. *bah humbug* I remember complaining when it used to come out before Thanksgiving and now here it is before Halloween. *blows raspberry at comsumeristic overlords*

I've heard a lot of people say that they had fewer kids this year... but then, some folk had tons *shrugs*

But we only had about a third of our regular traffic, it was so sad.

I surely do miss the good ol' days of trick-or-treatin' *G*

I refuse to think anything Christmas until December 1st.... well, except some gifts... I do tend to start buying earlier...But that doesn't mean I want to see decorations! *stomps foot*

You know, I've noticed the same thing in the last few years, it really doesn't seem like there are as many trick or treaters as there used to be. It's really a shame as it's pretty much the best holiday you can come up with. 1) You get to dress up 2) You get to wander around after dark 3) You get FREE CANDY

Although, considering the number of shootings and abductions that happened in the GTA on Halloween night, I'm starting to not be surprised....

Same song here. I dropped Bookworm at a friend's for dinner and group trick-or-treating, then I took my boys out at around 5:30. We did not see any other trick or treaters on our block or others, until the very end of our trek. Most of the houses on our little street, (which in the 14 years I've lived here never has had much action) were thrilled to see my guys as they were the only trick or treaters they'd had. I didn't see any kids come to my house, altho I was back and forth and not always here. Yet at the end of the night, my candy bowl was empty. Go figure. Consumers spend more on Halloween than ever, but no one's out and about.

THey say people do more parties... and I guess that's true, but I really miss all the kids. It's almost enough to make me wish I had one of my own *almost* *G*
I'm planning on enjoying my niece when she gets old enough to understand what it's all about *G*

I think it depends on the area. Where I live it is dead. A lot of older people and no kids. We would be lucky if we get 10 kids come by.

Where my friend lived it is all new families and lots of kids.

We have lots of kids on our street, and in the area, that's what's so odd. *shrug*

I guess next year I'll have take a page out of your book and build me some interesting models for the front yard :oD

I had 0 kids. I figured we'd just get a couple from the building but we had no one, on my way home I didn't see any kids outside either, bizzare.

We had one kid the first year we were in our appartment... after that we always went out to either my hubby's mom's or to my parent's place so we could see some kids...

I get the Halloween Blues, but in hte sense that I wish there was more stuff going on and less gorram Christmas! *G*

Nobody gets sad on Halloween cuz of the sugar rush... the crash comes a few days later ;o>
