What a stupid day...

It started yesterday, really, late last night when it was time for bed.

One of the guys from across the street was apparently in the doghouse and was sleeping in his van (which , incidentally is parked on the grass beside the house, isn't that lovely) and so was playing music while he sat in it... and this van has a souped up sound system with big speakers that pounded the base right through our windows, making it impossible to sleep. When midnight finally came around, T. had had it, and went across the street to tell him to turn it down... well, ask really, I made sure he was very politic about it, seeing as we live across from the guy... But he was amiable enough, and turned the music down, so we were able to sleep.

So, we only had 5 hours of sleep before we had to get up (well, less than really, because we had to *get* to sleep after that) Subsequently, very tired this morning. I got up at 5, let T. sleep till 5:45 while I did some e-mail and LJ stuff, and that at least looked promising. Lots of LJ comments to reply to, and something nice in my in box. So, I got ready for work, eager to get there and continue my LJ-ing before my boss arrived.

Oh fate, how cruel you can be.

There was an accident on the highway. What is normally a 50 minute drive took twice that. So, exhausted, I had to drive twice as long as normal, plus we were an hour late for work (because we left late because I let T. sleep 15 mintues late) and when I finally get there, sink into my chair and turn on the computer.... No.Internet.

That's right, the bloody internet was done. For the next two hours. So, there went all the free time I had before my boss arrived. I snuck on anyway, while he was around, because there were certain things I just *had* to read and reply to, but it took me forever to be able to. Not only because of the boss's close proximity, but because our lovely data management system was also not working right. You might think I would have lots of free time then, and I did, however, so did all my coworkers.... so there was lots of conversation and people coming in and out of my area, which does not make for ease of sneaking online... :o/

We had to work through lunch, becuase of these problems... T. had to help cancel the volunteer shift for the afternood because we couldn't retrieve the files needed.

Then, our big, big boss came down and told us that our department boss's mom had just died yesterday - she's pretty much just been waiting for her mom to die, and has this week off already, and was crying in my husband's arms on friday, and now her mom's finally passed... so there was a card circulated for that, and we'll have to find out where to send flowers or a donation....

Both of us are still exhausted, and now T. is ready to drop, but if he sleeps now, he'll never sleep tonight, so he's grouchy, and now I have to go help make dinner and prime a few more cupboard doors...

On the plus side, we got to leave an hour early and so got home early. And, I had that special thing in my inbox today, and learned a little tidbit too, so that was very nice... without those two things though, and all my LJ conversations, today would be a complete write off.... as it is, I think I sitll came out on top :o)

But overall, what a stupid day!

I hope tomorrow is far better for you. I just hope you don't get caught sneaking online! I've had it happen before. It's not much fun, lemme tell ya!

Another vacation would be nice... be a while before I get one tho..

today was... okay... in many ways, better, in other ways, not so much, but meh... what can you do.

And I'm very careful, well, sorta, about my online sneaking... I'm cutting back though... I'm giving in to this addiction too much, need to temper it a bit *G*
