Does that seem right to you?

Let me share with you
Haven't had a family doctor in years. When we lived in The City, we went to the walk-in clinic, and there was a great doctor there, Dr. Choi, who we always saw, even though we were only walk-in patients. Fantastic bedside manner, pleasant, cute... all the best qualities.
Then we moved back to The 'Schwa.
Doctor's at the clinic out here... not so much. Don't like them at all.
So, found out there was a new doctor taking patients up at the medical centre. My mom goes and picks up the APPLICATIONS (as in, to apply to be this guy's patients) fills them out and drops them off for us. Only those who pass the application phase will be contacted. Meh, whatever.
So, two days ago, we get a phonecall. Are applications have been accepted (and it's pretty exciting, let me tell you), can we come in for the Meet and Greet?? So, we set up the meet and greet appointment for today, 5:45 pm (such a convenient time, right in the middle of the dinner hour) and go to the Medical Centre.
So, the guy's name isn't on the board. Which means we have to search. After five to ten minutes of fruitless searching and asking around, we find a nurse-y type chickie in maroon hospital garb, and she takes us right to the place (co-incidentally where she works) Urgent Care. (i.e. The Walk In Clinic.) So we have to wait in line to get to the receptionist so she can take our health cards, and then we get plunked less than graciously into room 12 to await The Doctor.
So we sit, and it's Frakkin' freezin' in this room (not good for the spousal unit's arms) and then this guy stops in the door way, stares up at the ceiling for a moment. Turns and walks away. T. and I share a look - what the fu--? - and then eventually, after bitching out the receptionist for not telling him the times of appointments (have no clue if this is related to us, but pretty sure it is) he finally comes back.
Doesn't look at either of us, sits in his chair with his little medical folders...
DR: What seems to be the trouble?
ME: Uhh, we're, uh, here for the 'meet and greet'?
*Briefest flash of a smile from him, blink and it's gone.*
So he starts firing off questions to me about my medical background, he can't always understand what I'm saying, so I have to repeat myself, I can't always understand what he's saying, so I have to ask him to repeat himself.... repeat the process with the spousal unit.
DR: Okay, we'll let you know.
*Dashes out of room*
ME and T.: Oooookaaaay....
The guy didn't even introduce himself, didn't ask our names, didn't shake hands, didn't MAKE EYE CONTACT...
Not comfortable with him at all.... and after all this, now we're hoping we DON'T MAKE IT through the 'interview' so it will save us the trouble of tellin' this guy, NO THANKS....
Bizarre... I want my City Doctor back... *pouts*
In other news, incredibly tired today. Almost finished a beta, my last for a while. Signed up for Mal in
big_damn_quests even thoug I still owe three Jayne answers... I WILL get them done before the end of this week, even if they suck. But wrote nothing else. Writer's block sucks.
Visited our friend's cats... yes, their cats. They've gone to Greece for two weeks, so we're checking in on the cats every so often, and givng them some human companionship.
Also, got to wear my awesome new jacket to work today, because it was cold, and Not.One.Single.Person. said a thing about it... Hun dans... *pout*
I have a craving for grapes. *blush*

Date: 2006-05-24 09:10 am (UTC)Nono... I'm just putting the beta stuff on the back burner... besides, I've worked extra hard to put some tips and examples into this latest story, so you'll have lots to apply to your other stuff... so, it'll look like there's LOTS of my comments, but a lot of it is just tips and ideas and my opinions about things... never worry! I'll have it to you at some point today, too!

Date: 2006-05-24 09:15 am (UTC)Oh well... I think I'll still end up taking most of my basic needs to the doctor at the clinic in Toronto, since I work in the city, it's not like I don't have access... It'll will only be when I'm REALLY sick and can't make the hour drive in that I'll have to go out here... sigh... more incentive to get my flu shot and NOT BE SICK anymore!
