I'm in a deliciously dark place today.
Writing: has been very productive today! I wrote two little fics today, both of them dark. The first was for the FF_Friday challenge 114 - Numbers. Not my best attempt ever, but it's something at least. The other was a short fic titled Betrayal, which I am very pleased with. It's very dark, very evil, and I had to write it. Didn't get to any NES fic, or Choices today, but I should be able to tomorrow. I
love being in a writing mood! I may have to start asking for prompts a la
agent_rouka, though I doubt I could match her stunning talent in that category! (You are amazing, you know.)
T-Shirt: Today's t is my serenity logo one, with just the kanji for serenity, no english characters... I didn't like this one as much when I first made it, because it didn't show up so well on the black, but I'm feeling better about it after a few washes, it looks more 'lived in' now, and that's much more comfortable.
Firefly thought: I have always felt there is something very sad about Inara. It's in the music that accompanies her, it's in her grace and poise, and in her isolation and in the love she forbids herself. It's just there, this sadness that permeates her character, and it is both heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time. I love Inara so.
Work: Month end / year end is nearly done! I'll be able to slack off a bit more in April, which should translate into more writing! Hooray! Today, a co-worker brought in some cheese (Wensley Dale - it's the Wallace and Gromit brand, apparently - I thought they were calling it Wednesday Dayold at first, and wondered why on earth I'd want to try that) So I tried a big ol' cracker's worth, and I tell you, no cheese has ever tasted more like bile to me than this Wednesday Dayold stuff.. bleeeeechh... Wallace can keep his stinkin' cheese!
Cats: Took my cat Shimmer to the vet today, for blood work and vaccination in preparation for her Spaying. She's around 9 years old, so it won't eliminate the extra risk of ovarian cancer, but at least it will curb the hormonal activity, and give her an easier time of it. The preliminary visit cost almost $200, including an initial 'new patient' examination, the bloodwork, and the vaccination. She has a lovely little tag now that declares she's had her rabies shot. She was very good, even during the uncomfortable temperature taking (if you don't have a cat, realize that this can't be done orally and you'll get what I'm saying) and of course went back into her carrier nice as you please for the Vet (claws and screaming and yowling like you wouldn't believe at home to get her in the damn thing.) She'll go for the operation on April 12 if her bloodwork comes back good. She's also got some teeth disease beginning, but we don't have the extra bucks to get her cleaned. Time for the tarter-control food. All told, this will cost us over $400!! I love my cat. *wry grin*
