Are the construction people going to pay of the repair?
If I'd had to replace the tire I may have considered going after them for the money, but honestly, $35 is not worth the headache and time it would take to get it.

Oh, when was it... 19th century... there are records of it early on in India and Brazil, but by the late 1800's it was popular in Europe - not the live bugs so much as jewelry made from bugs - broaches, pins, earrings, buttons, etc. I can't quite remember who wore the live ones, and it might have been a more isolated than widespread kind of thing. But beetles were especially prized for their bright metallic colours.
