My favourite house is burning down...
I went to pick up my husband from work, and on the way home, only about five minutes from our exit, traffic got really bad. I could see what I at first thought was dust from the construction in the air (they're building a new on/off ramp to the highway) but as I drew closer I saw that it was actually smoke, and the closer I got, the surer I was that it was my favourite house burning down.
My favourite house is a big old yellow brick victorian house. It used to be a lawyer's office, but everything around it is industrial except for some farm land which is now under construction to build houses or businesses or something. So my favourite house has been on sale for some time (well well well out of my price range, plus the location sucks) and a while ago it got tagged by a bunch of graffiti vandels, which itself was heartbreaking and upsetting. So the place got fenced in by a portable chainlink fence.
And now today, it's burning... I can smell the smoke at my house.
It makes me so sad... it was such a lovely place. Now it will probably be demolished and sold for the land and turned into a parking lot.
This day has just been a rollercoaster of ups and downs... somehow I knew the downs would win :o/
